Walters Found Guilty in Huntsville Murder Trial

News 3 has confirmed that Cody Walters has been found guilty of first degree murder.

Jury deliberations began Wednesday morning for an East Texas man on trial for murder.

23-year-old Cody Walters of Shepherd is charged with the first degree murder of 20-year-old John McCrary, also of Shepherd.

Huntsville Detectives believe the two had broken into a car outside of Shenanigans nightclub in Huntsville on December 30th, 2009 when a fight began and Cody Walters allegedly attacked McCrary with a knife.

McCrary died during surgery after being stabbed multiple times.

If convicted Walters would face five to 99 years behind bars.

Closing arguments wrapped up Wednesday morning in the 12th Judicial District courtroom.
