KBTX has been honored with a regional Emmy for its News 3 at 6 newscast. The Emmy was awarded at a ceremony Saturday night in San Antonio.
News 3 was recognized for Outstanding Achievement in an Evening Newscast in markets 61 and higher.
KBTX received the Lone Star Emmy for its coverage of the Knights of Columbus Fire that claimed the lives of Lt. Eric Wallace and Lt. Greg Pickard. Seriously injured in the blaze were firefighters Ricky Mantey Jr. and Mitch Moran.
The station also received nominations for coverage of the firefighters' memorial procession, as well as, for the Fidelity Street shooting in College Station. Constable Brian Bachmann was killed in the line of duty on August 13, 2012. During the shooting, College Station resident Christopher Northcliffe also lost his life. Three police officers and one civilian were also wounded.
In addition, News 3 was nominated for coverage the night of Johnny Manziel's Heisman Trophy win.
KBTX's fifth nomination for the 2013 Emmys was in the Texas Heritage news series category for the Brazos Valley Bucket List.
