Texas A&M's Kyle Field redevelopment project has taken another big step forward.

Chancellor John Sharp announced Friday that Manhattan-Vaughn Construction has won the bid to be the construction partner for the Kyle Field Project. Previous projects by Manhattan-Vaughn include the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, and Reliant Stadium in Houston. It will begin work with Populous Architects in development of a conceptual design for Kyle.

The final design recommendation will be presented to A&M President R. Bowen Loftin for approval, and the Board of Regents for a final vote next year. Sharp said there is a lot of excitement surrounding this project.

"It is going to be breathtaking," Sharp said. "It is going to be the finest sports stadium that exists in this state with a lot more suites and with a lot more pageantry. I don't think it is going to be just good, I think it is going to be a stunning place that everybody who wears the same kind of jewelry as I do, the Aggie Ring, is going to be very, very proud of."

Sharp says he is very optimistic A&M home games will be played at Kyle Field during reconstruction. The re-building is expected to begin after the last A&M home game in November of next year's football season. Total project cost is expected to range from $425-450 million.
