Investigators with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Special Rangers with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association continue to search for clues and leads that will lead them to who savagely shot and killed three calves.
Some of the dead cattle were owned by the Dudley Brewer Ranch along FM 831 near Buffalo and were discovered following Monday’s early morning shooting. .
Leon County Chief Deputy Brent Walker says the fence had been cut and the calves were shot and loaded onto a truck, but it appeared one of the animals fell out and was dragged for several feet. An official with the game warden’s office says the culprits then tried to butcher the animal on the side of the road, but left the animal in a ditch after possible being interrupted.
Days before the calves were found a similar crime happened at another ranch on the same roadway. Investigators believe both case are related.
