The rain was a welcome sight Tuesday night for the Brazos Valley with some areas seeing record amounts.
News 3 found a place where more than half a foot of rain fell and also discovered how others are cleaning up after the storms.
"The wind blew this one a little too much," said Steve Huebner as he examined a Christmas tree.
The grass and trees are greening up at Steve and Carole Huebner's Christmas Tree Farm in Leon County where a surprise shower turned into record rainfall Tuesday afternoon.
More than 6.3 inches in fact!
"We were a little concerned too about our lake down there make sure our spillway was gonna be working 'cause there was a lot of water coming in. But all in all we're very pleased. We haven't had this kind of rain in a very, very long time," said Steve Huebner.
His stock tank is now three to four feet fuller.
It's water he uses to irrigate his farm.
"We irrigate our young trees probably every four or five days," he said.
But the storm did bring a little damage too in Leon County and elsewhere.
Mr. Huebner's next project will be filling in several deep holes all the rain created on his road.
Just a short drive from his place crews were also working to clear a tree blocking half of F-M 2485.
Over in Bryan City Parks Manager Bob Holmes was staying busy at Tanglewood Park where limbs were torn down and the pavilion needed attention.
"We came up and found these tables all turned upside down, so we got them straightened up and this morning we're making the rounds through the parks trying to survey the damage," said Holmes.
"We just thank the Lord for the rain that he sent us," said Huebner.
Rain relief for a summer heating up very quickly.
While the Huebner Family had the most reported amount of rain our radar estimates show we had around 1.4 inches in the B/CS area while as much as 3.25 inches in Huntsville.
