GIDDINGS A lightning strike hit an oil pump this afternoon causing a fire.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 4 p.m. this afternoon right outside of Giddings, on County Road 203 and 204. It’s about 40 miles southwest of Caldwell.

After the lightning strike hit the pump, it immediately caught on fire and spread to about 50 bales of hay nearby.

It took the Giddings Fire Department about an hour to put the fire out.

No one was injured and no structures were damaged.
