Lightning and inclement weather are likely the cause of a power outage in Bryan this afternoon, according to a Bryan Texas Utilities representative.

BTU says that at its peak, 500 customers lost power. 90% of those who lost power were residential, 10% of power lost was to commercial businesses.

Four hundred of those 500 customers had power restored immediately, with approximately 100 customers still without power as of around 7p.m.

Storms and heavy winds caused downed power lines and fences as well as downed tree limbs throughout the afternoon.

Crews are currently repairing the system and will remain out until all power is restored.
