Good to Know:
IOLA - They serve the community and now the community is serving them.
The Iola Volunteer Fire Department hosted it's annual fundraiser auction along main street today. For the first time, there was also a sanctioned cook-off that helped bring in money that will go towards purchasing new equipment and more.
"Tools and the fire service are evolving all the time getting bigger and better and we need to keep up with that. It's a great turnout and I can't thank them enough for coming out and supporting us," said VFD Chief Chris Roig.
The Iola Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1976 and has been hosting fundraising events for at least the past twenty years.
