Dogs are great companions for many families, but for one, it could be a lifesaver. That's where the community can come in at a Saturday fundraiser.
As News 3 told you about in May, Libby Stewart is an eight-year-old dealing with Type 1 Diabetes. Since her diagnosis two years ago, hospital trips have been frequent.
Those with the disease can experience deadly drops in blood sugar.
There are specially-trained dogs who use their nose to sniff out those drops and alert those around of the problem. Those extra seconds could mean a big difference, but extra dollars are needed to get the animal. They can cost around $28,000.
Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., a carnival will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Bryan. Food, a water slide, face painting, carnival games and prizes will all be part of the event.
