A local non-profit organization is using its artistic talents to keep dozens warm this winter.
The Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild (BBCG) donated 50 quilts and matching pillow cases Tuesday evening to Hospice Brazos Valley and Texas Home Health.
The handmade items will be given to Hospice and Texas Home Health clients for Christmas.
The 140 member quilt guild donates over 1,000 hours every year in support of non profit organizations. It was established in 1985 to educate and support local non profit agencies in the quilting arts.
BBQG has donated over 350 quilts to support the St. Joseph Cancer Center, The Prenatal Clinic, Phoebe's Home, Texas Child Protective Services, Twin City Mission, Hope Pregnancy, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), and KAMU.
The Guild also supports the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). This year, the guild donated over 200 bibs, 100 walker bags, over 100 pillow cases, and 25-30 housecoats for local senior citizens.
