Shelters and veterinarian clinics in the Waco area near West have been inundated with all kinds of animals, and they're in need of supplies to keep up with the demand.
"I am sure people want to come back and claim them, but the animal has to stay somewhere before their families have homes and their security settled, all these vet clinics are housing and sheltering the animals."
Anne Estep along with other employees at John Gause Plumbing in Wellborn looked on Facebook and saw posts from vet clinics in the Waco area, like the La Vega Veterinary Clinic, that were asking for donations.
Now the employees at the plumbing company are taking time to organize a drive. Their goal is to fill up a trailer with items like pet supplies, food, cat litter and water.
"The ones that do still have houses, most of them don't have running water or electricity and it's very hard to take care of their animals,” said Melody Berend, the manager of La Vega Veterinary Clinic.
"It's kind of a pay it forward thing. I hope that if that ever happened here and we needed help that somebody outside the community would be able to take 5 minutes or 2 hours out of there day to come out and help us,” said Estep.
A drive has been scheduled for tomorrow at the Ozona Bar and Grill in College Station from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m.
