Organizers are trying to keep up with demand for T-shirts benefiting the families of the Bryan firefighters killed and injured this month in a fire at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The sales aren't just from people in the Brazos Valley, but from all over the world.

"I'm filling an order to ship to England. I am getting orders from fire departments that say they want a shirt for everyone in their fire department,” said Rhett Filburn, a firefighter for Bryan Fire Department Station #1.

That station is the same one Eric Wallace worked at. He's one of the two firefighters that died two weeks ago from injuries following a fire at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bryan.

Selling shirts to help the victim's families financially is Filburn's way of healing from the loss.

"From the time this happened, I find ways to involve myself with keeping busy with the plans,” said Filburn.

In four days, more than $50,000 was made in T-shirt sales. That total doesn't include the online demand that Filburn's wife is taking care of back home in a garage.

"I really thought we were going to sell 500-600 shirts. The first day I had more than 1,000 emails and it shut my server down. They thought I had been spammed,” said Shanna Filburn.

About 5,000 shirts were made yesterday and sold today at Monograms and More.

If you'd still like to buy a T-shirt, they'll be on sale at Shipwreck Grill tomorrow starting at 5 p.m. during a crawfish boil fundraiser for the firefighters.
