A local power provider has laid off 16 percent of its workforce.

Wednesday, the Texas Municipal Power Agency confirmed that 22 of its employees had been let go. That leaves 112 on staff.

TMPA is co-owned by the City of Bryan, Denton, Garland and Greenville, and operates the Gibbons Creek Steam Electric Station near Carlos

Acting General Manager Craig York says projected generation output for this year isn't where it was in years past, so they had to make cuts.

No more layoffs are expected for now, according to York.
