MADISONVILLE The City of Madisonville is outgrowing city hall and has received council approval to buy a building to expand and possibly relocate some departments.

Monday night council members voted unanimously to purchase the Second Baptist Church building for $285,000.

City Manager Danny Singletary says the money used to buy the building will come from a fund balance which are previously allocated funds the city ended up not spending.

Singletary says the sale is expected to be complete in about a month, but the church will continue hold services there for nine months after the deal is finalized.

As to which departments could move, at this time Singletary says he's considering moving the police department or possibly the administration offices.
