Deadly Wreck Near Navasota; Distracted Driving Suspected as Cause

One person is dead following an accident Tuesday morning in Grimes County.

It happened just east of Navasota on Hwy 105 near County Road 446 before 9:00 a.m.

According to DPS on the scene, an 18-wheeler was stopped preparing to make a turn when a car slammed into the back of it. The driver of the car, Scott Randell Sarber of Katy, died at the scene.

A trooper tells News 3 they believe Sarber, 56, was using his smart phone and laptop while driving.

The driver of the 18-wheeler did not suffer serious injuries.
