A man is arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly stealing a College Station Fire Department ambulance following two separate accidents.

College Station Police say the man stole a car in Bryan and was in an accident near Villa Maria Road and Wellborn Road. Police say the driver of the vehicle that was hit chased after the suspect.

The suspect reportedly left the scene and then hit another vehicle in College Station at F-M 2818 and Jones Butler Road.

When paramedics arrived at the accident, the man reportedly jumped into a vacant ambulance and took off driving toward Holleman Drive.

Investigators say as the suspect was fleeing the area, he drove through the drive-thru of McDonald's at George Bush Drive and Marion Pugh Drive, striking a concrete pillar resulting in a third crash.

Officers searched the area and the ambulance was located at the intersection of Holleman Drive and Carolina Street. The suspect was then taken into custody without incident at that location.

"I said he done stole that vehicle. I said he's not working for them dressed like that, and sweating and he was acting strange and then he went and sat on the west side of Holleman Drive," said Willie Creeks, a witness.

"Once the fire department arrived on scene they were talking to the subject trying to render treatment to him, and he jumped in the ambulance and fled the scene in stealing the College Station Fire Department's ambulance," said Sgt. Kyle Patterson with the College Station Police Department.

The man was taken to the hospital for observation.

No one was seriously injured in the accidents.
