Witnesses are describing a tense situation at a local movie theater that led to the arrest of a man accused of making a gun hand gesture.

Dozens of movie-goers watching a showing of 'World War Z' at the Premiere Cinema in Bryan Friday night left in a panic after a man allegedly made the gestures.

"It was an extremely packed theatre. There were people on all sides and it was already uncomfortable,” said Caroline Morales who went to the movies with her husband, Robert, Friday night.

Police say Darrell Reynolds, 54, from Bryan walked into the theatre and stayed for about a minute.
Witnesses say he was acting like he was shooting with his hand.

"Shhhh right over our heads. He walked right past us. It seemed like a rude thing to do. We turned around to see what was going on,” said Robert Morales.

"It was dark and nobody could really tell especially if you were in the back and you just see a guy going 'choo choo choo,’”said Caroline. “The rumor quickly spread that it was a gun and everyone is rushing to the exit quickly. We couldn't have got out if we wanted to."

Reynolds was arrested for disorderly conduct in the lobby by a police officer on duty.

"It will not be tolerated in Bryan. It is an offensive gesture. It alarmed people and we took the appropriate actions,” said Officer Kelley McKethan with the Bryan Police Department.

Reynolds bonded out of jail, but police say his name has been flagged for security purposes.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, which is a Class C misdemeanor that carries a fine of up to $350.
