On Wednesday, May 15th, Brazos County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home on Drake Drive, Duck Haven Estates in rural Brazos County to investigate the report of a theft. The home owner, over 65 years of age, reported that they were missing several pieces of jewelry from the master bathroom of the home. According to the homeowner, the jewelry was last seen the previous day and that the only other person to be in the home through that time was Direct TV installer who had come to her home to provide service. Sheriff's Deputies arrived prior to the installer leaving the home and confronted the installer about the theft.
The installer, identified as Kevin Joseph Cormier, admitted to the theft to Sheriff's Investigators and showed where he had hidden the jewelry in the service vehicle. The value of the recovered stolen items was estimated to be $12,628.50 .
Investigators also found other items in the vehicle that were not claimed by the homeowner, one of which was marked with a name that matched a name on the installer's service log for a home in Burleson County . Investigators contacted the other home owner who advised that they had recently reported a theft to the Burleson County Sheriff's Office and that they had recently had a satellite TV installer at their home. Brazos County Sheriff's Investigators contact the Burleson County Sheriff's Office to confirm the theft had been reported and began collaborating in the investigation.
On Friday, May 17th, arrest warrants were issued in Brazos County for Theft From Elderly $1,500 to $20,000 and in Burleson County for Theft $1,500 to $20,000. At 1:33pm Kevin Joseph Cormier was arrested at the Pecan Grove Apartments in Caldwell. According to investigators they recovered other items from the theft in Cormier's apartment.
