Man Drowns In College Station Pond

The College Station Fire Department says their dive team members recovered the body of a man who drowned while swimming in the pond at Stephen C. Beachy Central Park Saturday afternoon.

Fire department units responded to the reported drowning at 1:45 p.m.

The victim has been identified as 37 year-old Timothy Sumrall of College Station. The fire department dive team recovered his body around 2:30 p.m., where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bystanders reported that Sumrall had been swimming when he went under water and did not surface. Responders said he had been under water for approximately 5-10 minutes.
