MONTGOMERY COUNTY He was charged with killing both his parents in front of his niece. Now, a Montgomery County Grand Jury has handed up an indictment for Joseph Samuel Branstetter.
The 24-year-old told police in September that he shot 58-year-old Cathy Gibbs, and her husband, 54-year-old Randall Branstetter, but that it was an accident.
He was charged with Capital Murder.
The sheriff's office says a 12-year-old girl at the home in Porter called to report the shooting. She told dispatchers her uncle shot her grandparents. Deputies say at first, Branstetter ran away, but later returned to the home to turn himself in.
Branstetter is being held without bond at the Montgomery County jail. Montgomery County Sheriff's investigators have not indicated a motive for the killings.
