BRYAN Local residents took time out of their day to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In Bryan, hundreds participated in the annual MLK Freedom March, put on by the local Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
The route began at Sadie Thomas Park and followed a two-and-a-half-mile stretch of Martin Luther King Jr Street to Kemp Elementary School, where a program was held featuring the poet Se7en and the winners of an MLK essay writing contest.
Delta Sigma Theta had also held a soul food lunch at Neal Elementary over the weekend, with proceeds going towards the funding of service projects in the area.
