Posted: Mon 4:28 PM, Apr 23, 2012

The Blinn College Foundation recently received a donation from Graham Masonic Lodge #20 to establish a $20,000 endowed scholarship.

“We’re extremely grateful to the Masonic Lodge for its generosity,” said Joe Al Picone, Blinn College Foundation executive director. “Its commitment to education and the community make Graham Masonic Lodge a perfect partner for Blinn College and the Blinn Foundation.”
Graham Masonic Lodge #20, chartered in 1845, is one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in Texas, and was the last one established before the Republic of Texas joined the Union. The scholarship is open to Washington County residents without regard to major. Preference will be given to students with a Masonic connection.

Established in 2000, the Blinn College Foundation, Inc. is organized for the sole purpose of providing support for programs and activities which enhance the quality of education for Blinn College students and expand the educational opportunities for the entire community.

While raising funds is an important function, Blinn College Foundation also seeks to heighten community awareness of the mission and accomplishments of the college and to promote excellence in education.
