Special tax districts have been approved in the eastern and western portions of College Station's proposed Medical District.
Thursday night the College Station City Council voted 6-to-1 to designate the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones or TIRZ.
The city says with tax revenue from new development in the area, the TIRZ could help pay for about $60 million in needed infrastructure over the next 20 years.
College Station is proposing a Medical District centered around the College Station Medical Center and the new Scott and White Hospital.
It would include medical clinics, offices, retail space, and residential areas.
