This weekend in south College Station, you could get an up close look at some incredible military history.

They're bringing the big guns out to the Museum of American GI from the annual open house celebration.

From military vehicles, artifacts, and antiques there is something from every war over the past 150 years.

A WWII battle reenactment will take place on Saturday and you could even ride in a Sherman tank.

The event is a tribute to veterans from all the wars and its goal is to pass along the lessons learned during all the American conflicts.

"Most of us are old veterans. I'm a Vietnam veteran. A lot of the other guys are veterans and a lot of the other guys just come here to want to keep this alive so the public today knows how we obtained our freedoms and our rights that we have in the country," said Steve Hickman with the museum.

Admission to event is $6 and it will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and stay open till dusk. Parking is free at Santa's Wonderland and you can take a shuttle to the event.

The Museum of the American G.I. is located half a mile south of Santa's Wonderland on the Highway 6 feeder.
