Madisonville, known to be the mushroom capitol of Texas, hosted its 12th annual Mushroom Festival Saturday. The fun kicked off with a 5-k run, while specialty chefs and wineries were featured all throughout the day.
Many flocked to downtown Madisonville for the delicacy of tasty mushrooms, suiting almost every kind of palate.
Shane Salinas is the owner of Salinas Salsa Company. He was one of the many vendors at the festival. Although his main goal was getting the word out about his freshly made salsa, he had no idea just how much fun Saturday's event would be.
"Man, it's been great a lot of people hanging out, really enjoying it i mean, monitoring the mushrooms and putting the salsa out there," said Salinas. "If they like it, it makes me a happy man."
From roasted corn, pizza to even specialty wines, it all went down a bit smoother with mushrooms.
