Celebrations continue for Navasota as their high school team made history. The Navasota Rattlers won the 3A Division II State Football Championship when they beat out Gilmer 39 to 3. On Saturday, the community came out to celebrate their victory.

The Rattler Spirit is alive in Rattler Nation.

"We got a great group of young men a great community, a great rattler nation it all came together this year and we're real proud of them," said Charles Wilson.

The football team won the 3A Dvision II Football Championship just last month.

Dozens of people were in the stands to cheer on the team after a great football season.

"The community was great this year behind the team 100% giving us support the Mayor having pep rallies every week, it was awesome," said Xavier Creeks, Navasota football player.

Xavier Creeks didn't get to play in the championship because of a broken leg, but has still received an out pouring of support.

Players signed autographs and had a meet and greet with fans, but players say they are successful in part because they're surrounded by family.

" Yea its pretty much chemistry we all love each other we hang out all the time and we just like being there for each other," said Kevin Harris.

Ethel Collins, mom of Austin Collins, Offensive MVP is extremely proud.

" I am so proud of him words can't explain it."

Moving forward from this big win, she has big hopes for her son.

"I would love to see him play in the NFL that would be wonderful, but if that's not his destiny whatever he does, I'm going to support him 100 percent," said Collins.

The feeling of community and togetherness radiates throughout the stadium. It's the fuel that players say will help them continue winning.

Along with winning the Championship the team receives the privilege of sporting championship rings. The community and parents are raising money for those rings. They have set up an account at Citizens Bank in Navasota for anyone wanting to donate and help purchase rings for the football team.
