Navasota residents wanting to go green with their Christmas trees have a chance at doing that Saturday morning.
The city is offering Christmas tree recycling from 10 A.M. until noon at the south parking lot of City Hall, 200 E. McAlpine Street.
Residents are asked to remove all tinsel, ornaments, bags, and tree stands before the city will accept them.
Drawings for prizes will also be held.
The Christmas tree recycling program will provide mulch for the community and reduce waste being sent to the landfill.
"We'll we're just trying to help the community recycle and it really helps. We also have a recycling center which we recycle plastics and cardboard which really helps a lot as far as the dumps you know," said Norberto Valadez Jr., Navasota Public Works Street Foreman.
Residents can also place trees curbside the week of their regular yard-waste collection.
The city's compost center is also open from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. Saturdays.
