An unsuccessful attempt at stealing $8.97 box wine has a Navasota woman behind bars in what has become her fourth theft arrest since December of 2010.
According to reports, 36-year-old Kristina Chantelle Nelson walked out of HEB in Bryan on Friday with $8.97 Franzia Blush box wine. The only problem -- police say it was never paid for.
When asked for her receipt of purchase, she reportedly said her husband had already paid for it and he would be picking her up in the parking lot. The HEB employee, who happened to work for 'loss prevention,' told her he would keep her company while waiting for her husband to arrive.
After waiting ten minutes, the employee told Nelson he could verify the purchase by checking security camera footage rather than continuing to wait -- that's when Nelson reportedly said her husband had not paid for the Franzia, and offered to return the wine.
Nelson has been arrested and booked into the Brazos County Jail for theft with two or more priors. She has been charged with theft four times since December of 2010.
