New Aerial Video as Workers Tweak Expanded Kyle Field

COLLEGE STATION- The Texas A&M Football team will hit the new grass of Kyle Field for its first home game of the season against Lamar University on September 6th.

The first phase of the $450-million expansion and renovation of Kyle is almost complete, with workers doing a lot of tweaking over the next couple of weeks.

This is new aerial video of the stadium that will seat 106,500 this season, with phase two and the rebuilding of the west side set to be finished before the beginning of next season.
-----
If you were anywhere around Kyle Field on Friday morning, you may have heard some loud booms.

For about two hours the new Corps of Cadets cannon was tested near the southeast corner of the stadium near Houston Street.

Officials are trying to figure out a good location after this phase one expansion for it to be fired after A&M scores.

This IS Home of the 12th Man.

So the statue of E. King Gill was moved on Friday from the North Zone Plaza to a spot at the new plaza on the northeast side of the stadium.

It's wrapped up for protection.

When Texas A&M was running low on reserves during a game with Centre College in 1922, Gill was called from the stands, suited up, and stood ready throughout the rest of the game, which A&M finally won 22-to-14.

He is the original 12th Man.
