America's largest retailer will soon bring nearly 100 jobs to Bryan. Employment applications are now being accepted for various positions at the new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on Texas Avenue in Bryan.
More options; more convenience and more jobs will be coming to Bryan as the world’s largest retailer moves in on Texas Avenue.
“It's going to be very convenient; a one-stop-shop. Get what you need, get out and go on about your day," said Wal-Mart store manager Jose Mendez.
Those choices are like music to these shoppers ears.
“That's what it's all about is price,” said customer Robert White.
"We do all our shopping at Wal-Mart,” said customer Antone Pavlock.
The new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is located at the Texas Avenue & Carson Street intersection. And although it's still under construction, management says it's expected to be at least 65,000 square feet and will focus on food and health and beauty products. The retail giant is now looking to fill at least 75 full and part-time positions.
“We're hiring from everything from cashiers to management levels,” said Mendez. “In order to apply you can do it online from home or come to the store at the Bryan Supercenter and apply at the Kiosk here."
It's the third Wal-Mart to make a home here in the twin cities and shoppers say they can't wait for more bargains -- and more savings.
“Since we don't have one in Hearne, I'll just shop with the best price,” said White.
“It's about the cheapest you can find at any other store,” said Pavlock.
Antone Pavlock lives on a farm in Anderson, but makes the drive to the Briarcrest Wal-Mart Supercenter location at least twice a month.
“Whenever we get down on things we need like sugar, salt and pepper, you know things you don't raise on a farm, and then we come in and get what we want,” said Pavlock.
The majority of new associates are expected to begin work in June to help prepare the store for its grand opening this summer.
Applications will be accepted from 8- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturdays. You can either apply online or inside the Bryan Super Center location on Briarcrest. You can find the link to apply online below.
