New Constable Named to Follow Bachmann

The chief deputy under the late Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann has been elevated to take over Bachmann's post.

Jeff Reeves was approved by county commissioners Tuesday morning to become the next constable for Precinct 1. The former member of the Bryan Police Department and Brazos County Sheriff's Office has more than three decades of law enforcement experience.

Bachmann was shot and killed in August while delivering an eviction notice in College Station. A bystander, Christopher Northcliffe, was also killed. Another bystander and other officers were injured before the gunman was killed in a shootout.

Just days after the shooting, Reeves was appointed to take over administrative duties for the Precinct 1 office as departmental head.
