New Restaurants, Retailers Coming To College Station

We're seeing some of the economic pluses here in College Station as more restaurants and retailers set up shop.

Several things are coming our way soon, and that includes a new hotel.

From daycares to restaurants, new businesses are setting up shop in College Station.

Casey Oldham is the CEO of Oldham Goodwin Group and says Tower Point in south College Station will continue to grow.

"Then you've got maybe a new power center component to Tower Point that would flank H-E-B. Tenants, not saying these would be the ones, but tenants like maybe a Ross or T.J. Maxx," Oldham said.

While a Walgreens and retail center will be built at the southwest corner of William D. Fitch and Highway 6 a new hotel is coming to Tower Point too.

"There's 65 or 75 rooms that's coming in. It's a Best Western Plus," explained Oldham.

A new Cici's Pizza To Go and The Sleep Station mattress store are also coming next to Lowe's in that area too.

CS Principal Planner Jason Schubert says it's been a typical year for development so far.

"This is a season for opening as far as the summer schedules. Everybody seems to want to open up to be ready for the fall for kind of the cycle that we have here," said Schubert.

The vacant Aggieland Inn sold a few weeks ago with plans for redevelopment including housing and retail. A dental office and mattress store are being built on Texas Avenue just next door.

"Lot of exciting things ahead and hopefully we'll see a lot more restaurants, retailers, what everybody wants," said Oldham.

Many more options for a city approaching 100,000 people.

There are also talks going on for another new hotel along University Drive, and plans for a possible Saltgrass Steakhouse near Tower Point.
