Prairie View A&M's Marching Storm has a new leader.
According to the university, Timmey Zachery has been tapped to take the helm of the famous marching band. His first day is Thursday.
The nationwide search landed Zachery from Norfolk State University, where he had been assistant band director for his alma mater.
In addition to playing as part of the United States Navy Band, Zachery has also been a part of the Virginia Symphony and a variety of bands.
Zachery follows William McQueen, who succeeded George Edwards in the role after his death in 2009. For 30 years, Edwards led Prairie View's band to major events across the county.
