BRYAN Yet another set of renovations have been approved for the Brazos County Courthouse.
Tuesday, county commissioners signed off on an estimated 15 months of work by Madison Construction at a cost of $5.9 million.
The work, which will be the fourth phase of renovations to the building, will focus on the fourth floor, where all three district courts will have courtrooms, accommodations for juries and office space.
A five-phase plan was conceived and approved in 2009, with money made available for the first three phases. Madison also worked on those.
As construction gets underway on the fourth floor, the 361st District Court -- which is currently on the third floor -- will likely have to find new space to hold hearings and trials. There have been discussions about using space at the Brazos County Administration Building.
