Normangee Middle School Building Reopens Tuesday Following Flood

NORMANGEE, Texas Repairs are wrapping up at Normangee Middle School in Leon County where last week backed-up drain pipes flooded more than 80-percent of the building after heavy rains.

Students have been attending class at Normangee High School next door, but the principal says Tuesday they'll be able to return to the middle school.

The school district's insurance company is trying to determine the total cost of the damage.

"The library is going to be closed and so is the gym. The gym floor is not drying properly, so they're having to work on that and kind of cut up some pieces of the floor to make sure that it's all drying the way it is supposed to. Everything else in the building is dry," said Wendee Binford, Normangee Middle School Principal.

Normangee Middle School students should report to their regular building at the start of school Tuesday.
