The community of North Zulch is coming together to remember a little girl who recently died.

5-year-old Leiya Jones died this past week after undergoing treatment for severe burns at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas after she and her older brother had been playing with fire in August.

Thursday morning students and staff at North Zulch schools held a pink out in Leiya's memory after they organized it on Facebook.

Many wore pink ribbons as well as pink shirts.

Her funeral was Thursday morning.

"Through Facebook and then by word of mouth and since we helped out with the garage sale they decided they wanted to participate," said Jane Dill, the F.C.C.L.A. Teacher at North Zulch.

"And as a community we've been very fortunate to come together and be able to support one another. And as a school community be able to support each other and give the support to the kids that we need," said Chris Bradshaw, North Zulch High School Principal.

Leiya Jones would have been a kindergartener this fall at North Zulch Elementary.
