Oil Field Worker Critical After Being Burned in Robertson County Explosion

NEW BADEN, Texas - An oil field worker is in critical condition after an explosion in Robertson County.

Wednesday afternoon some oil tanks caught fire just east of Franklin off Highway 79 near New Baden on Rabe Cutoff.

The 25-year-old worker was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Sources say an oil well was being capped and was operated by Finaly Resources.

Robertson County Sheriff's Investigator Steve Misterek says the man was the only one on the site at the time of the fire.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and ATF Agents are investigating the incident which at this time is believed to have been an industrial accident.

The man's name has not been released yet pending notification of family.
