Opening Day ceremonies for Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park will begin Friday, February 17 at 4pm. The Texas A&M Baseball team will take on Illinois-Chicago. The game starts at 6:35pm.
Howard and Ed Kruse of Blue Bell Creameries will be a part of the dedication ceremony that will take place from 4-4:30pm. The dedication ceremony will be streamed live at KBTX.com (kbtx.com/livestream).
First News at Four will be live from Blue Bell Park, but will not be streaming on the web channel due to the dedication ceremony streaming at that time. Interviews from First News at Four will be available to view after the newscast.
In conjunction with the opening of Blue Bell Park, KBTX will air a special presentation tonight after the 6pm newscast that will highlight the legacy of Blue Bell ice cream in our community and across Texas.
"The Little Creamery" is a look back at the 100- year history of Blue Bell Creameries.
It's hosted by Mike Wright and features interviews with Ed and Howard Kruse, who took over Blue Bell operations after their father passed away in 1951.To date, the Kruse brothers maintain an active role in the company.
