Update: Deceased Victim of Highway 21 Crash Identified

Good to Know:

  • One person is dead and six are in the hospital with unknown injuries after a crash on Highway 21 Sunday afternoon.
  • A black Dodge pickup truck was pulling into the Brazos Valley Cowboy Church when it was rear-eneded by a Blue Dodge pickup.
  • The driver of the blue Dodge was cited for failure to control speed.

BRYAN - UPDATE: The person killed in a crash on Highway 21 in front of the Brazos Valley Cowboy Church Sunday afternoon has been identified as Jose Nelson Perez Hernandez, 45, of Bryan.

Hernandez was riding in the right rear seat of a black Dodge pickup when the truck was rear ended by a blue Dodge pickup as the black Dodge was turning into the Brazos Valley Cowboy Church from Highway 21.

The driver of the blue Dodge pickup was cited for failure to control speed. The extent of the injuries from the other passengers is not known at this time.

One person is dead and six others are in the hospital with unknown injuries after a crash on Highway 21 Sunday afternoon.

According to DPS on the scene, the crash happened around 3:40 Sunday afternoon when a black and green Dodge pickup truck with three occupants was pulling into the Brazos County Cowboy Church from Highway 21 when a Blue Dodge pickup truck carrying a female and three children rear-ended the black Dodge, killing the right rear passenger in the black Dodge.

The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time. At least one person was air transported by PHI. It is unclear if that was the deceased person or another person involved. Identities of all involved will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the blue Dodge was cited for failure to control speed.
