BRYAN, Texas - A section Martin Luther King Junior Street had to be shut down after an 18-wheeler overturned Monday.
The accident happened just after noon along MLK Street near Pierce.
Bryan Police said the 18-wheeler was carrying a load of gravel when it overturned.
The official cause of the accident is under investigation, but witnesses told News 3 a car pulled out in front of the rig as it was headed around a curve on MLK.
Witnesses said the driver of the truck swerved to avoid the car, nearly missed another car, then lost control and flipped onto its side, spilling the load of gravel onto the street and side of the road.
Police say the driver of the truck was transported to St. Joseph Hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.
No one else was hurt. The accident was cleared about 2:30.
