The animals get excited as people come out to find a furry friend

On Wednesday, every pet was available for $12 dollars for December 12, 2012.

Jenna Rich was eager to have her new puppy in her arms

For Rich it was love at first sight when she spotted a Labrador puppy

"It gives you somebody to come home to at night and someone to keep your feet warm in the bed at night," said Rich.

It's a real treat, a package worth hundreds of dollars of medical treatment, supplies and food. And all for $12.

"I'm so excited, I mean I spent $10 on a movie yesterday now I'll get to keep the puppy forever. The movie last two hours."

Pets make for a great surprise present, but it takes work and effort to care for them.

Kathy Bice with Aggieland Humane Society says they prepare pet lovers for the responsibility.

"We're committed to doing adoption interviews to help people be ready to make sure they've checked with their landlord. To make sure their fence is ready for a big outside dog," said Bice.

A number of people have already taken advantage of the deals and adopted a new pet.

The Humane Society takes care of cats and dogs and hopes to provide a home for all of them this Christmas.

Some people consider pets members of their family. And, now they can add on to that family for a very inexpensive price.

The Aggieland Humane Society has an extended offer called 12 Strays of Christmas. A selection of 12 cats and 12 dogs are available for $12 dollars--that includes vaccinations-- until December 24th.
