Police cadets training to become law enforcement officers now have a new training facility on Texas A&M's Riverside campus in Bryan.
It's part of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service Central Texas Police Academy.
And Thursday it was dedicated and named for the former director of Texas A&M's Police Department, Bob Wiatt, who died nearly 3 years ago.
Wiatt also served in a distinguished career with the FBI, and helped investigate numerous high-profile cases, including the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
His son, Jeff Wiatt, spoke at the dedication.
"To have this physical skills training complex named and dedicated to the honor of my father is very humble and a bit overwhelming, however, it is so deeply appreciated by my family."
The Wiatt Physical Skills Training Complex includes a police cadet instructional area, a weight and cardio training area, and locker rooms for men and women cadets.
