College Station- On Monday around 12:30 p.m. College Station Police responded to a robbery and assault that happened in a parking lot near the intersection of Live Oak St. and Texas Avenue.
A 28 year old woman reported that she had been walking to her vehicle in a parking lot in the 600th block of Texas Avenue when she was attacked by a man from behind. The suspect began to hit the woman with his fists and attempted to take her purse.
The woman fought back, but the suspect was able to take the purse and flee eastbound on foot. A passing motorist saw what was happening and followed the suspect while notifying police. After interviewing an additional witness, police were able to identify a suspect in the case.
This witness had been driving a vehicle that the suspect had gotten into shortly after committing the crime. According police, the suspect was questioned about the crime and ordered the suspect out of the car. The suspect fled on foot.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for 29 year old Anterius Demon Ashley.
Ashley was taken into custody by the Robertson County Sheriff's Office at a residence in their jurisdiction.
The woman was treated on scene by medical personnel for minor injuries.
The investigation continues and additional arrests and charges are possible.
