In just a matter of seconds, 9-year old Tucker Ortiz was able to leave Crockett Elementary School in Bryan without a trace.

"I looked outside and all I saw was a whole bunch of cops everywhere," said Keith Salazar. Salazar has a child that attends Crockett Elementary. He also served as a volunteer to help find Tucker Ortiz.

While authorities never suspected foul play, parents of children who attend the school want to know how this could happen.

"Thank God it wasn't my kid that walked off, but I think they need to watch them a little bit more closely," said Salazar.

"Where were the teachers at when just disappeared," asked Lynette Washington.

There's conflicting information about exactly where teachers and principals were when Ortiz left.
Sources tells News 3, Ortiz was left alone for a moment outside of the principal's office when he ran, but a Bryan ISD spokesperson says the principal was right there.

"He was being escorted to a discipline facility here on the campus and the principal was getting some assistance from the employee and he turned and ran. At that point actively went after him, but he was a little fast as he left the building," Sandy Farris, Bryan ISD spokesperson.

Bryan Police officers, school officials and volunteers searched for more than 3 1/2 hours. The young boy was found hiding under a bridge just down the street from the school. He was not injured.

Missing 9-year-old, Tucker Ortiz has been found.

Police say the child was located about five blocks south of Crockett Elementary near Cavitt Avenue, hiding beneath a bridge.

Tucker Ortiz is described as:

Hispanic Male (light skinned)
9 years of age
Approx. 4’8”
95 pounds
Brown Eyes
Brown Hair
Mole on right cheek
Last seen wearing jeans, a bright blue button up shirt and a red zip up jacket.

Bryan police and officials with the Bryan Independent School District are searching for a missing 9-year-old boy.

Before leaving Crockett Elementary this morning, police tell News 3 that Tucker Ortiz was last seen sitting outside of the principal's office.

Officer Lori Berndt says the child left because he was upset and though a search is ongoing, foul play is not suspected.

Ortiz is wearing a red hoodie, blue shirt and jeans.

No other details are available at this time. If anyone has seen this child, you are asked to call the Bryan Police Department at 979-209-5301.
