Pretrial in the Works for Man Accused of Killing Caldwell City Employee

A pretrial for a man accused of killing a long time Caldwell City employee is in the works.

Authorities said On June 28th 38-year-old Nortorris Deere, 38 is accused of killing Bennie King, 63 of Caldwell during a burglary last June.

Despite the lack of a murder weapon, or motive, police were able to charge Deere with murder from other evidence discovered at the scene.

Deere was indicted in Burleson County and remains in the County Jail under a half million dollar bond.

The District Attorney has not said if the death penalty will be sought in this case. A pretrial hearing should be held in February.
