BRYAN- One local principal spent her day outside, but this wasn't an ordinary outdoor classroom.
Kristy Barfknecht found herself at the losing end of a bet and wound up on the roof for the school day. Barfknecht bet her students at St. Joseph's Elementary school that they couldn't raise $1,300 for new technology for their classrooms. The students proved her wrong, and the principal worked the entire school day on the roof.
"This is close to my heart because the kids are my heart at this school," Barfknecht said. "When I make a promise to the kids at St. Joseph Elementary, I want to go through with my promise. The kids are the reason I am in education and the reason I am a principal."
The money will house the projectors for classroom smart boards. If you would like to donate to the school, you can reach the school at 979-822-6643.
