The City of Bryan Parks & Recreation Department is registering 3-5 year olds for the Start Smart Basketball program.
The program, which meets each Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. from January 24 – February 28, teaches children (ages 3-5) the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents.
The program focuses on teaching children, and their parents, skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and the children show improvement.
Registration for Start Smart Basketball costs $35 for Bryan residents and $45 for non-residents. A registration form can be downloaded online here (or attached) and returned to the Parks office at 1309 E MLK Blvd. or the Bryan Aquatic Center (3100 Oakride Dr.)
