NAVASOTA, GRIMES COUNTY - Texas Department of Transportation officials announced that repairs are underway on an overpass damaged by a train derailment in Navasota.
Work started Monday on the railroad overpass bridge substructure and should be complete by mid-August, weather permitting. The northbound inside lane of SH 6 will be open to one-lane of traffic, not two, while this work continues.
TxDOT installed a traffic barrier on June 27th to ensure that no vehicles will get near the shoulder that is being repaired.
An emergency contract for $345,530.00 was awarded to L.C. Jordan and Son to repair the railroad overpass bridge substructure on Highway 6 that was damaged on June 23.
Motorists traveling northbound should obey all traffic control in the area.
