Residents and businesses are cleaning up after heavy rains caused flash flooding in Caldwell overnight.
Emergency management officials say they received reports of water inside some motels and people's homes.

At Pam Kristof's home, off Highway 21 in Caldwell, she received four inches of rain in about two hours.

"It was flowin' like a river," said Kristof.

A line of dirt and mulch shows just how close the water came to going in through her front door.

Kristof said, "I started using these bags I bought the other day for a sandbag at the door."

When the rain hit Caldwell, the water in this ditch was so high, Pam thought it would overflow and spill into her yard.

"And then, right over here, past that culvert right there, it went out over the edge and all of that was flooded all in there," Kristof said.

Traffic had to re-routed along Highway 21.

Kristof said, "To the road and everything, it was all under water."

Other homes and at least two businesses in the area were affected, like this motel.

"It got my boxes and stuff, I've been stacking up here for a garage sale Saturday, and it got them all wet, so I can't move them," said Kristof.

A flood insurance proposal arrived in the mail the other day, and now Pam's thinking she'll take up the offer.

In case you haven't heard, our weather team tells us we are officially out of the drought thanks to the recent rains.
