Retailers: Thursday is the New Black Friday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas The Black Friday frenzy is creeping up, and more often this year, Thursday is the new black.

Stores like Target will open their doors on Thanksgiving Day.

"We're going to open at 8 p.m., and stay open the entire night," said Bonnie Woodward with Target on Highway 6 and Briarcrest.

Woodward said employees scheduled to work look forward to the day.

"It's a party. Our team is excited to be here. They get excited for Black Friday," said Woodward.

Target will have plenty of competition around town. Walmart will be open all day Thanksgiving, with Black Friday deals starting at 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday, and again at 8 a.m. Friday.

Kohl's opens at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving and will stay open until midnight on Black Friday.

Over at Post Oak Mall, several stores will open up for business at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, including American Eagle, JC Penny and Macy's.

Toys R Us is ahead of the pack, opening its doors at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving day.

If you need to make a quick run to the grocery store on Thanksgiving, stores like HEB have you covered.

"We're fully loaded. All of our check stands will be open Wednesday and all day Thursday, anticipating a big rush," said Leslie Kutzenberger with HEB on William D. Fitch Parkway.

If major retailers and Black Friday just aren't your thing, wait a day and head to Downtown Bryan for Small Business Saturday. Many stores in Downtown Bryan will be closed on Friday, but ready for business on Saturday.

"All of my selection of boots are going to be on sale," said Emily Ditto with Emily's Jims in Downtown Bryan.

Ditto said there will be plenty of good deals around downtown on Saturday.
